Various suppliers straight mouth eggbutt snaffles
The eggbutt snaffle has a fixed rings this ensures there is no pinching of the lips but does not give as much play as the loose ring snaffle. The straight bar (mullen mouth) is milder than a jointed snaffle as it will work more on the horses tongue than the bars of the mouth. The flexi bit is made from a polyurethane material, which is light, and flexible. A snaffle bit whatever the particular design, should be wide enough to allow about 13mm (1/2 inch) on either side of the horses mouth. Bits that are too narrow will pinch, but also bits that are too wide will tend to slide across the horses mouth.
