Internet access and 2 new voip phone lines, the fritz!Box fon from avm is an elegant and complete solution for your internet connection and telephone needs: it includes an integrated adsl modem, a full-featured router, 2 phone ports for voip and a pstn failover line, the fritz!Box can be connected directly with your dsl connection and provides a robust firewall while still allowing your voip calls to pass through unhindered. Computers are not needed after the initial set-up and you can make and receive voip calls without having to turn on your computer, your existing analogue phone or dect phone can simply be connected to the box and used. The use of fax equipment (over the isdn telephone connection) is also possible. The fritzbox fon also has traffic shaping technology, that allows call prioritisation so your calls are clear even when you are surfing or downloading, features: dsl-modem the integrated dsl modem connects the box with your dsl connection. Computers and networks can be connected to the internet by either ethernet or usb connections. A separate or already existing dsl modem is not needed! Usb- and rj45-cables for the network are included with the device when shipped, router operation: the usb interface makes simple connections possible for pcs and notebooks (windows/linux/mac). Using the (10/100 mbits base-t) ethernet connection, you can connect several computers from a network to the same internet voip connection. To do this you will need to use an additional hub or switch with ethernet ports. The integrated firewall, port-releases and ip masquerading provide for safe surfing on the internet, telephone (isdn and analogue), connect the fritzbox to an isdn or other fixed-line device. There are two connections (a/b) for telephone (analogue and dect), fax and answering machine. The two analogue connections are freely configurable. The integrated telephone ports are connectable to pstn lines and are ready for use quickly after connecting, typical isdn-functions like 3-way conferencing is possible through the analogue connection, additionally, you may dial out over your fixed-line service (isdn or analogue) or call over your voip connection, voip adapter: two internet-telephone numbers from sipgate accounts can be installed and used in the fritzbox fon, a list of numbers is maintained by the device which are useable for fixed-line connections such as the emergency services. You will only require a broadband connection to use the fritz!Box fon, a separate router is no longer necessary, during a conversation, the data-rate used by a typical phone is around 200 kbit/s per device. (From bandwidth of 100 kbits both directions up- and down-stream).
