Origin: This has been used since the earliest times as a medicinal and culinary herb. In Germany and Scandinavia it is used with fish and cucumber as a culinary herb and in the East as a soothing digestive aid for indigestion. Dill is an annual or biennial herb which grows about 1 metre tall and has feathery leaves and lots of yellowish flowers. Sources: Dill is native to the Mediterranean and Black Sea areas but is now cultivated worldwide especially in Europe, the USA, China and India. Dill seed oil is produced mainly in France, Hungary, Germany, Spain and Britain. Genito-urinary system: Dill is helpful for lack of periods and is said to promote milk flow in nursing mothers. Digestive system: Probably the best use for Dill is to help colic in children, indigestion, flatulence and dyspepsia. Mixing Oils: It blends well with Mint, Nutmeg and other spice or citrus oils, Important reminders: Essential Oils should not generally be applied directly to the skin : always dilute in a base oil.
