Stamps and Collection Auctioneer
It was back in 1884 when our owner commenced business as a professional philatelist and 1918 when he held the first Bond Street auction. Since then and for over eighty years the our name has been synonymous with all that is best in philatelic auctions.
Many of the worlds finest collections have passed under the hammer in our galleries - the Wills collection of Great Britain realized over a million pounds and the Sandra Ilene West collection of Germany and Bavaria made over £995,000 to name but two. And yet we maintains its place in the heart of the philatelic world as a leading auctioneer by offering the smaller collector or vendor as well as the larger an unparalleled service with un-match able results.
Our regular auctions, up to ten a year, attract bidders and vendors from all over the world. Over 5000 beautifully produced all color catalogues are sent free of charge to our clients. Our mission is three fold yet simple: to value, nurture and protect the needs of the collector, to offer the best material to the largest number of people and to secure the best prices for our vendors. The value added benefits of buying and selling through our auction of London come from a company determined to offer you the service that best suits your individual needs.
But it doesnt end when the gavel stops banging. We offer many other services and activities of interest to the collector. We organize the famed Rare Stamps of the World exhibitions. Additional services range from private treaty sales to insurance valuations and from visiting lectures to estate planning. Check out our other pages for details of the complete service that we offers the stamp collector.

Valuations Verbal valuations are free, and you may call at the office during normal office hours for a no-commitment assessment of the value of your collection.
Valuation days From time to time we hold open days at central locations around the country where it may better suit prospective vendors to bring their collections. We also attend many of the major philatelic exhibitions, including Stampex twice a year and can assure you of a friendly welcome if you would like a valuation.
Catalogues We are one of very few auctioneers that (for the most part) make no charge for catalogues. Our catalogues are splendid productions with lavish full color illustrations and detailed, accurate descriptions, many of which become reference material in their own right. Free transit insurance. We will insure items that you are consigning to us for auction at no cost to you. This includes from the point of transit to our offices and whilst your items are in our care. However full details must be agreed prior to dispatch so that this service can be arranged.
Consultancy Whether you need advice before embarking on a new collecting adventure, or advice on capital gains tax and how to avoid or reduce it (this tax does not apply to overseas vendors) we have the qualified experts and the right experience to guide you. Much of our consultancy service is free, but for some services a small charge is made. Verbal valuations are free, and you may call by at anytime during office hours for ano-commitment assessment of the value of your collection. Where valuations are for insurance, probate, family division, tax purposes or prospective sale we charge 2 percent on the first £25,000 and 1.5 percent on any portion thereafter. Valuation fees are refunded (excluding V.A.T.) when sale instructions are subsequently received.
When planning for the future, whether your collection is bequeathed or to be sold on your death, ensure your beneficiary receives the full value for your estate by consulting with our expert estate planning team.
Valuation visits. Trips are regularly made by our experts to all parts of the United Kingdom and overseas. Whilst a visit fee may be charged if a special journey is required, normally visits to homes or offices are made without obligation or charge.
