Launching a new Internet Auction section on its website to offer site visitors an opportunity to bid for signed sporting mementoes and other souvenirs while also helping to raise funds for the growth of the junior game.

British junior golf charity committed to introducing as many youngsters as possible to the sport – runs a colourful and informative website which takes the visitor through national and regional junior golf events and projects, the charity’s fundraising activities and the opportunities for children to get involved with golf, along with guidance for parents, teachers, professionals and club members who want to help.

The Internet Auction should be a popular new feature (launch date is September 30) and the first sale item has been revealed – the TaylorMade Tour Staff bag used at the 2005 St Andrews Open by world number 10, Kenny Perry. The bag was used by Perry to finish in a tie for 11th place on the Old Course and was afterwards signed by Perry and generously donated by TaylorMade. On the side of the bag is a logo developed by TaylorMade as a mark of respect for the tradition of the Open Championship, which adds to the unique appeal of the bag.

The Foundation now invites all golf lovers to make a bid and help generate funds for its grass roots development work in schools, inner cities and golf facilities. Bidding will last all through the month of October and the successful bid will then be publicised on the site.

Mike Round, Chief Executive said: “We thought we would launch this new part of our website in response to the growing trend for auctions on the internet. We feel this will add a little extra colour and fun to website and can also act as an important source of revenue to help our work in junior golf development.

“Thanks to Kenny Perry and TaylorMade we have been able to open the auction with a wonderful piece of memorabilia and, as the Foundation enjoys a strong relationship with golfing organisations, companies and professional players, we believe we will be able to offer some really exciting and unique sporting gifts and mementoes in the time to come.

What does we do?

The aims of the organisation are:

To provide support for golf sessions at schools and golf facilities so that

young people are given their first introduction to golf.

To encourage young people to take up the game, develop their playing skills, improve their understanding of the game and work towards the achievement of a playing handicap.

To provide competitive opportunities for performance motivated youngsters.

We believes that through the medium of golf, children are able to gain both valuable personal skills that will help them later in life and, of course, enjoyment. It was formed in 1952 and has now evolved into a dynamic, energetic organisation operating a portfolio of participation initiatives designed to support junior golf development structures.
