| Pewter spiked helmet.Few relics of military history are as striking as the german pickelhaube (spiked helmet). The black lacquered leather helmet with its intricately detailed gilded brass helmet plate and tall spike was intended to create the image of highly aggressive military force. The quick german victory over france in 1871, lead many countries to imitate the style of the prussian army. Many countries around the world adopted some form of spiked helmet for their own armed forces. Each helmet is a scale replica of an original helmet in that style. It comes with a wooden stand finished in a light teak varnish. The stand has a metal rod in the middle which has a rubber half ball shape mounted on top. The helmet sits on the rubber mount which is sized to fit the helmet. Each pewter item comes packaged individually. Detailed dimensions: height 14cms. |
