Egyptian God Thoth |
| Usually shown with an ibis-head, thoth was scribe to the gods and the wisest of them. Thoth is supposed to have written the spells in the book of the dead, the purpose of which is to assist the deceased in their passage to and into the underworld. Thoth appears in it holding a writing reed to record the results of the weighing of the heart of a deceased against the feather of maat.
