Ganesh has his two front arms raised in a pose similar to his father as Nataraja the Lord of dance. In the Nataraja pose, the lower right hand is raised in blessing, betokening preservation and the lower left hand gestures toward that holy foot in assurance that Shiva's grace is the refuge for everyone, the way to liberation. Ganesh's other 8 arms hold a ball of rice, long beautiful trident, a pasam or noose, a bell, Agni or fire, an elephant goad and a cobra. Ganesh's crown is carved so that it rests high on his proud head. The rich red color of the Gorora stone is marvelous. Hand carved of red marble or Gorora Stone from India. Gorora stone or Red marble is a wonderful stone for sculpture. It is rarer than most soft stones and must be shipped into Tamil Nadu from Uttar Pradesh in the north. The stone has wonderful cream/yellow veins in it contrasting the beautiful deep red of the stone. The stone is extremely glossy. When a red marble statue is polished it has a disarming shimmer. Sculpture weighs 15 pounds. Dimensions: 37"H x 18"W x 5"D
