In the world of personal finance, the lack of financial education has life-changing implications. On the other hand, so does gaining financial education. It too can change your life. I find it interesting that the suppliers of financial products and services employ some of the brightest and most educated people and then turn them into monsters full of deceptive practices. Such practices are common with credit card, life insurance, and mortgage companies, to name just a few. We too must arm ourselves, another reason for this book. I have been deceived. I have purchased financial services that I did not need. I have tried debt-servicing programs only to learn later that I was actually going deeper into debt. Been there, done that. Now I am back, fully equipped with education, experience, and a great need to share what I have learned. I have discovered that just writing about the topic is not enough. The consumer needs to be provided with the tools, along with information, for good decision-making.
