The urna, third eye, of the Buddha is polished so that it is a darker green than the rest of the piece that is rough cut and thus lighter green. Hand carved of Green Granite using a hammer and chisel. Green granite is a beautiful as well as dense stone that has some special features. It is capable of a variety of finishes which can give it a variety of different color possibilities. It can be carved with a rough surface giving it a very faint light green color. Or it can be polished to give the piece a dark green finish. When the piece is wet the stone comes alive with a deep rich dark green which almost makes you pray for rain! Green granite is even denser/harder than black granite making it extremely difficult and time consuming to carve.
